Clueless…. Like… Ya Know?

October 31, 2005

Much too much to go into today to write it all up. Just understand this with what is below: The Democratic leadership is clueless in a big way. Is the Democratic party a party that speaks with racist undertones? Probably not, but the way they act, well……. some might say they are close with some of what is listed here.

What follows will not sway anyone’s core beliefs, but it should make you think.

From The Political Teen: Democrats bash the new Bush appointment to the Supreme Court.

From Chris Matthew’s Hardball program:

MATTHEWS: I don’t know. I think the democrats,I am sitting here holding in my hands a disgusting document. the democrats are circulating it. it’s a complaint sheet against judge alito’s nomination. the first thing they nail is he failed to win a mob conviction in 1988. they nail him on not putting italian mobsters in jail. why would they bring this up? this is either a very bad coincidence or very bad politics. either way it will hurt them. this document, not abortion rights, not civil rights but that he failed to nail some mobsters in 1988. this is the top of their list. Amazingly bad politics.

More at the link above.

From Conservative Outpost we learn of Democratic support for Judge Alito in the past:

Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.): Alito is the kind of judge the public deserves… one who is impartial, thoughtful, and fair.

Senator Ted Kennedy: Alito has a distinguished record … [w]e look forward to supporting you.

And today you know you’re doing something right when Harry Reid (D-NV) says:

“This is not one of the names I’ve suggested to the president,” Reid said yesterday of Alito on CNN’s “Late Edition.”
“In fact, I’ve done the opposite,” he said. “I think it would create a lot of problems.”

This is only the beginning. Let’s see how the Dems react…… Well, it didn’t take me too long to find out what Dems are thinking. Here’s a link where Democrats speak out. Some highlights include:

Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.), Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and the liberal group People for the American Way rushed out statements blasting the nomination even before Bush announced it at 8 a.m

By the day’s end, much of the organized left had joined the chorus, including the AFL-CIO, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the Alliance for Justice, MoveOn.org and the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights

“(my insert: The Right)…forced the president to choose a nominee that they think has views as extreme as their own,” said Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.).”

Teddy? Did you hear what you just said? So Teddy approved of Alito in the past, and now believes he is a tool of the extreme right? How is it possible that people in Massachusetts keep electing this clown?

Reid again: “Bush would leave the Supreme Court looking less like America and more like an old boys club”

And, of course, the abortion rhetoric:

“Alito’s confirmation could shift the court in a direction that threatens to eviscerate the core protections for women’s freedom guaranteed by Roe v. Wade or overturn the landmark decision altogether,” said NARAL President Nancy Keenan.

Finally, a slam toward Alito’s Italian herritage:

via Drudge:

From A. Kenneth Ciongoli

The NIAF (National Italian American Foundation) is distressed by the attempts of some senators and the media (CNN, CBS) to marginalize Judge Samuel Alito’s outstanding record, by frequent reference to his Italian heritage and by the use of the nickname, “Scalito.” *

*(Authors note: Combining Alito and Justice Anthony Scalia simply because they are both of Italian herritage)

I didn’t really see a lot wrong with that, and even this morning I found it a little humorous, until I read this point by Mr. Ciongoli that made me think a little deeper:

“…no one mentioned that Justice Breyer was Jewish or suggested that he was lock-step ideologically with the other Jewish Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, it would have been outrageous to do so. We still do not know Justice Robert’s ethnicity.”

Can the Democratic leaders really be stupid enough to continually attack with name calling? Are there subtle hints of racism to be found when the subject is something or someone the Democratic party disagrees with? And, will fear mongering play out every day via the MSM (Alito will overturn Roe v. Wade, is anti-female, etc.) with Democratic newsbites? I think the Democratic party has fallen so far down the rabbit hole that it’s a little of all the above.

For the truth on Alito’s record, go here. Yeah, I know it’s CNN, but it has some good information to combat the scare tactics that are sure to follow.
